No joke, they’re called the TREDANSEN blinds and they really work (look ‘em up). We have them set in the Ikea app to open at 10AM and close at sunset.

They are blackout shades so they do really well with keeping the sun and heat out.

They’re a little less than 3x the price of their other blackout blinds, so we only got them for this window. Every other room has regular blinds that we leave closed pretty much all the time. I figured I could manually open and close these twice a day, or let them do it themselves and give my wife peace of mind that the plants will always get sunshine (Megan loves her plants).

The only downside to these was automation seems to require IKEA’s Trådfri for now. It’s a one-time purchase of their version of the Google Home/Alexa. It was $40. Either way, they look nice and are functionally so helpful.
